Plunder Hell, Populate Heaven: From a Prayer for Canada to a Harvest of Souls

2 Chronicles 7:14 is a promise to heal a land. The Great Commission is how it happens. Here is the vision — and how you can partner with Daniel & Katie Ziedins through e3 Canada.

In short

God heals a land the way He heals a person: one surrendered life at a time. Praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 over Canada and obeying the Great Commission are the same assignment, and Daniel & Katie Ziedins carry it through e3 Canada — equipping believers to evangelise and plant multiplying churches. You can join by praying, sharing, and becoming a monthly partner at KD-Ziedins.com.

Every revival in history started the same way: a handful of people who refused to accept the spiritual condition of their nation as final. This is an invitation to be one of them.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

Read that promise slowly. God does not say if the government changes, or if the culture improves, or if the right leader rises. He says if my people. The healing of a land begins in the hearts of those who already belong to Him — and then it moves outward, one rescued life at a time.

That is the heartbeat behind God Heal Our Land, the national call to prayer for Canada. And it is the heartbeat behind everything Daniel & Katie Ziedins have given their lives to.

What it actually looks like when God heals a land

We tend to imagine national revival as something that happens to a country — a headline, a stadium, a moment. Scripture shows it differently. A land is healed the way a person is healed: through repentance, forgiveness, and the presence of God. A city changes when the people in it change. A nation changes when its cities do.

So praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 and obeying the Great Commission are not two different assignments. They are the same assignment seen from two sides. On our knees we ask God to move. On the streets, at the coffee shop, at the kitchen table, we become the answer to our own prayers.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?”

Romans 10:14–15 (NIV)

Plunder hell. Populate heaven.

The evangelist Reinhard Bonnke spent his life repeating one phrase until it became a battle cry for a generation: plunder hell to populate heaven. It sounds bold because it is. But it is not hype — it is the Gospel's own language.

“Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.”

Matthew 12:29 (NIV)

Jesus describes His own mission as a raid. The strong man is bound at the cross. What is left is the rescue — every soul held captive carried out into freedom. Paul says it plainly: God “has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” (Colossians 1:13).

Every time someone says yes to Jesus, hell loses a citizen it thought it owned, and heaven throws a party (Luke 15:7). That is not a metaphor for a program. That is a person — a name, a story, a family that will never be the same.

The story so far

In 2014, Daniel and Katie didn't launch a ministry. They just started showing up — walking downtown Hamilton with coffee and one simple question: “Can we pray with you for anything?” No stage, no strategy, no budget.

Twelve years of faithfulness later, that walk has become something no one could have engineered (the full story lives at KD-Ziedins.com):

Notice the pattern. Prayer births outreach. Outreach births disciples. Disciples become teams, and teams become churches that multiply. That is how a land is healed — not by addition, but by multiplication.

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)

Why equipping beats everything else

One evangelist can reach a street. An equipped church can reach a city. A movement of multiplying churches can reach a nation. That is why the Ziedins serve with e3 Canada: the goal was never to build something around two people, but to put the Gospel into the hands — and mouths — of thousands of believers who already live in every neighbourhood, workplace and family in this country.

“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:37–38 (NIV)

Jesus did not say the harvest is small or the soil is hard. He said the workers are few. The bottleneck has never been the willingness of God or the hunger of people. It has always been laborers. Equipping is how laborers are made.

This is a partnership — and there is a place for you in it

When Paul wrote to the church in Philippi, he thanked them for their “partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:5). They never walked the Roman roads with him. They never stood in the marketplaces of Corinth. But every soul saved on those journeys was credited to their account (Philippians 4:17), because they prayed, they gave, and they stayed.

That is the invitation. Not to admire the vision from a distance, but to own a share of it. The next twelve years will be bigger than the last twelve — more cities, more teams, more churches equipped, more people praying for this nation to be healed. None of it happens alone. Four ways to stand with us today

  1. Pray. Pray 2 Chronicles 7:14 over Canada every day this week, and pray by name for Daniel, Katie and the teams going out. Join the movement at GodHealOurLand.com.
  2. Partner. A monthly gift, at any size, is what lets an evangelist plan years ahead instead of weeks. Give through the e3 Canada staff page.
  3. Equip your church. Invite the Ziedins to train your congregation to share their faith — reach them through KD-Ziedins.com. Every equipped believer becomes a labourer in the harvest.
  4. Go. Start with one person. Ask the question that started all of this: “Can I pray with you for anything?”

The call

Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up, and then he heard a question that still echoes: “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” His answer has been the answer of every revivalist since: “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8).

Some will be sent to the streets. Some will be sent to their knees. Some will send others with their giving. All of us are sent somewhere. Let's heal this land together — one prayer, one conversation, one rescued life at a time. Plunder hell. Populate heaven. In Jesus' name.

Frequently asked questions

What does “plunder hell, populate heaven” mean?

It is a summary of the Great Commission made famous by the evangelist Reinhard Bonnke. Jesus said He binds the “strong man” and carries off his possessions (Matthew 12:29); every person who turns to Christ is rescued from the dominion of darkness into the kingdom of the Son (Colossians 1:13). Evangelism is that rescue.

How does God Heal Our Land connect to evangelism?

God Heal Our Land is a national call to prayer for Canada built on 2 Chronicles 7:14. The promise is that God will heal the land when His people humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from sin. A nation is healed as its people are reconciled to God — which is why prayer for revival and the work of evangelism belong together.
